Fundraiser: Prize #11 – Play Bow!

You may remember in a recent post (here) we talked about the important of stimulating our dogs mentally. We stressed that this is equally as vital as physically exercise! One of the quickest ways to exhaust your pup, is to work his or her mind. 1 tired dog = a happy dog & happy owner! This theory is catching on in animal shelters, where boredom and stress can run rampant. A tired dog will ‘show’ to potential adopters much better than one who is over-excited, mouthy, or jumpy. If we give shelter dogs a way to expel some energy through quiet play, we are helping them come one step closer to a forever families.

Simple enrichment works wonders in shelters, but it is just as effective in our own homes! When we were expecting a large amount of company around the holidays, we were careful to think about all three of our dogs, but especially Georgia. While she had always been calm and friendly with strangers, we weren’t quite sure how she would handle excessive noise and foot traffic. Of course, she blew us away by displaying the best manners out of all three dogs, but it sure helped that we kept lots of ‘puzzles’ around for her to work on in case she became bored or anxious. For us, these puzzles were oftentimes just kongs with frozen ingredients inside, but rest assured that the animal market is catching on to the trend and need for such products!

Poochie Heaven – Interactive Toys for your dog!

Although we originally only planned to offer TEN prizes, while searching for a dog toy company that specialized in puzzles, I was delighted to come across Poochie Heaven. I couldn’t resist including them in our giveaway! They seem to take their business a step further, by truly understanding how dogs play and learn, and providing products that enhance the bond between dogs and their owners. While they carry everything from dog beds to collars and bowls, their toy selection was most impressive. They share their approach to toy selection, below:

“Interactive dog toys typically have some element of a challenge attached to playing. The dog must move pieces around in order to be rewarded with a toy or a treat. Many of the interactive dog toys act as puzzles which the dog must solve in order to be rewarded. Interactive dog toys are available at different levels of difficulty as some dogs need easier puzzles, and some need more advanced puzzles. The dog puzzle toys can be as simple as moving a ball a certain way to release a treat, to arranging pieces of a complex puzzle. As the dog completes the easier puzzles, they will happily move forward with the more challenging interactive dog toys.

It can be a very fun bonding experience to play with your dog using an interactive dog toy. The dog begins to learn through the toy that when he or she completes certain tasks, they are rewarded. If the owner helps the dog with the puzzle, the dog soon learns that if they listen to their owner’s commands, they will be lead to a treat. Therefore, an interactive dog toy can help make your dog respond more positively as you teach it other commands and behaviors. Interactive dog toys are suitable for dogs at any age; they can also be a great tool to use when developing a trusting relationship with a new puppy.”

You can head over to the Poochie Heaven website to check out their vast array of dog toy puzzles. However, if you are feeling lucky, simply make a donation to our fundraiser, here! You will be registered to win the Poochie Heaven interactive dog toy shown below, as well as ten other AMAZING dog-inspired products.

dogsmartdogtoy

This toy may look unassuming, but it packs a powerful punch when combatting your dog’s boredom or anxiety! By hiding treats beneath the hollow blocks, your dog will learn to remove the blocks with their paws or teeth to enjoy the morsels hiding below. As your pup becomes an expert, you can increase the level of difficulty so that only some of the blocks contain treats. This way, your dog has to use their sense of smell to uncover their reward.

This toy, at a value of $57 + shipping, was generously donated by Poochie Heaven!

Fundraiser: Prize #10 – Sunshine & Pitties

When we got married, I was so honored to have Foster Dad’s (FOUR!) sisters standing beside me on our big day. It was really important to me to find unique and distinctive gifts for each of his special ladies, that applied to their respective interests. I didn’t want to go the route of gifts with our wedding date engraved for years to come. For J’s youngest sister, E, it was so simple. We both share a passion for animals, and a lifelong dedication to the world of competitive horse showing. Where I had my once-in-a-lifetime horse named Frosty, hers is also a gorgeous, tall, gray gelding, named Norman. I knew that for her gift to be especially meaningful, I would need to incorporate her first love and best man! After taking a few (amateur!) shots of her gallant steed, I sent them along to an incredibly talented artist who specialized in custom animal portraits. Of course, E opened her gift with an appropriate mix of speechlessness and tears, and I was so proud to be able to provide her with such a treasured keepsake, truly indicative of my appreciation for her role in our lives, and in our special day.

I share this story to illustrate just how sacred such a gift can be. Our animals grace our lives in a pivotal, yet heartbreakingly brief, way. Having their presence preserved in a work of art to display in your home, is a gift that is truly invaluable.

Alicia is an artist that specializes in pet portraiture and animal art in vivid color. She created her company, DawgArt, in 2003. She draws inspiration from a former professor, who would leave his students with the message to “Use your powers for good!” Alicia believes that art has power, and so when she puts her brush to her canvas, she has two goals: 1) to communicate the soul of one creature to another, and 2) to make people smile. All it takes is one look at her work to know that she brilliantly achieves both goals! However, she also absolutely uses her power for good, advocating for no-kill rescue and working with many animal rescues across the country.

Alicia has worked with almost every breed of dog imaginable.

While she works primarily in acrylic on canvas, Alicia also dabbles in photography, dry media, and writing. The inspiration for the color splash in her portraits comes from her youth in the desert Southwest. Alicia was born in Germany and raised in sunny Arizona, but now lives in Utah with her husband Tyler, their rescued cat Kiko, and their shelter dog Toby.

Alicia's work includes, dogs, cats, horses, and even wild animals!

Please visit Alicia’s store (here) to purchase any of these prints, but of course, she also embraces and encourages private commissions of custom portrait work. Can you imagine how impressive it would be to have a portrait of your own pet done in her bright and sunny style?! She captures the personality of her subjects so truly and eloquently, that you can’t help but smile.

Alicia has graciously offered a donation of 8×10 fine art prints. Please make a donation to our fundraiser for LCPO’s needy pit bulls, in increments of $10, to earn an entry! The bigger your donation, the more chances you have to win and one of our fabulous prizes!

Fundraiser: Prize #9 – Frost Yourself in Inspiration

Anyone that knows me in ‘real life’ knows that I have a thing for quotes. (I’m talking to you, Ticki Nhoma) I think that finding a few well-chosen words, uttered by a powerful individual from another time, can provide strength and courage when facing a new or challenging situation. It can bring comfort to know that someone else has been where you are, and gotten to the other side, mostly unscathed. I have always loved jewelry that can be symbolic of treasured quotes, because it serves as a physical reminder of the things that inspire us. My favorite quote in the world is “To appreciate the beauty of a snowflake, it is necessary to stand out in the cold.” So it’s no surprise that the Best Gift of all Time is the snowflake necklace my husband got me for my birthday last year, in remembrance of my beloved show horse, Frosty.

(Side note, my second favorite quote is “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” – Mahatma Ghandi)

Lulu Bug Jewelry – Animal-Inspired Designs

While doing a search for wearable pit bull designs, I came across Lulu Bug Jewelry, where the masterpieces are all entirely hand-made and designed by an artist named Sue. While she says that her career choice was motivated by the fact that she comes from a long line of crafty women, her sweet Shar Pei, Lulu Bug, inspired the name. I knew instantly that I had to feature her work on the blog, as it fits perfectly into the jewelry requirements I listed above. Her work is truly meaningful, capturing memories and serving as a talisman of your inspirations and emotions. In her own words, Sue’s artistic process is defined below:

“I sculpt, inlay with tinted concrete and use my own illustrations to create original, meaningful pieces in .999 fine silver and .925 sterling silver. Fine silver is different than sterling in that it has no copper alloy, it’s pure silver. After the piece is formed, it’s fired in kiln at 1650 degrees for 2 hours. The binder burns off and the particles fuse, forming a pure silver object, also known as .999 fine silver. It’s quite magical! The majority of my pieces are made with fine silver PMC. ”

Sue's work features almost every breed of dog imaginable... you are sure to find a piece that reminds you of your own special pet!

Lulu Bug Jewelry has been in business since 2007, and Sue has been focusing on her personal creations full-time since 2009. All of her designs are eco-friendly, as they are made with reclaimed silver. The illustrations on her pieces are all created by Sue, and so you won’t find them anywhere else! She even makes the tools she uses to create these masterpieces.

You can purchase any of the pieces above, as well as many more, at Sue’s etsy shop, found here. You will be amazed at the quantity of work she offers, from ancient dinosaurs to whimsical recreations of wild animals, and of course many breeds of dogs, cats, and horses. She has a variety of necklaces made to feature motivational quotes, and other symbols that may be uniquely inspiring to your life story. Sue has graciously granted a discount to And Foster Makes Five, which has enabled us to provide one lucky winner with the Tiny Smiling Pit Necklace, shown below. To be eligible to win, simply head here to make a donation in increments of $10, which will earn you one entry for each $10 you pledge! As always, 100% of the funds will go directly to helping needy pits rescued through Luzerne County Pit Bull Owners in Pennsylvania.

Fundraiser: Prize #8 – Dressing for the Occasion

DSC_0105

Georgia wants to tell her devoted fan club “Happy Valentine’s Day!”

Be still my heart.

It’s no secret. I am over the moon with pit bulls. Head over heels, batting my eyelashes, can’t get enough, wish they would call me more often, think the sun rises and sets by…pit bulls. I’m not sure if it is their soulful eyes, soothing cuddles, variety of coat colors, or their clownish antics, but it has been a love affair of magnificent proportions from the start. So, as you might imagine, my own pit bulls take my love to the tenth power, multiplied by infinity. Alarming levels of love and dependency are reached.

DSC_0108

“It’s got to be that can’t eat, can’t sleep, reach-for-the-stars, over- the-fence, World Series kind of stuff.”

This Valentine’s Day, I am declaring my obsession with the pitties that we all know and love. I feel so thankful to have the opportunity to share my perspective of the breed with people, and hopefully change a few minds, one at a time. It is refreshing and rewarding to introduce people to Georgia and Gaige, and see their perspectives widen and their hearts open. At the same time, it is encouraging when you meet others that already share your passion for the breed. Starting this fundraiser has given me the opportunity to do just that. I have met so many wonderful individuals that have made an effort to run companies and produce products aimed at supporting the breed and refreshing its image.

Pitbullshirt.com – Fashion Tee Shirts

Pitbullshirt.com is just one such vendor. The brains behind this awesome company are husband and wife team Tommy & Sharon Athanasiou. They combine Tommy’s talent in art and design, with Sharon’s passion for pitbulls, which all began as a fundraising effort for an injured pit bull named Smokey. Smokey had been terribly abused and injured, and was being nursed back to health in California. With Sharon’s guidance, Tommy provided a hand-painted, pop-style rendition of Smokey, which ultimately raised $300 for his vet bills. With the success of Smokey’s fundraiser behind them, requests for custom dog portraits began pouring in, and The Tommy Pop Art Studio was born. Graciously, the couple donated 10% of each commissioned painting to the non-profit animal rescue organization of the customer’s choice.

The dynamic duo’s next venture was to enter the world of fashion design, and they now create clothing that brings attention to the pit bull’s plight and following, while providing their wearers with a fashionable alternative to the typical baggy, screen-printed tee shirts. These are not your typical pittie rescue shirts; they highlight the things we all love about bullies (their smiles, their snuggles) while giving their clothing a vintage vibe and funky feel.

Tommy and Sharon live in Florida, minutes from the beach, with their four furry family members: Peanut, their very girly pittie, a toy poodle named Fluffernutter,  a maltese named Vanillabean, and a Himalayan cat named Junior.

Pitbullshirt.com is their online store, where you can purchase some shirts of your own. If you are feeling lucky, simply enter our giveaway! Tommy & Sharon have graciously offered a discount to And Foster Makes Five, and so we will be providing one lucky winner with their choice of designs in 1 Regular Tee Shirt and 1 Babydoll Slim Fit Tee. In case you haven’t figured it out by now, simply head here to make a donation. Each $10 increment will earn you one entry into our contest, where you will be eligible to win any of 10 prizes! Remember, 100% of the fundraiser benefits our rescue, LCPO.

Fundraiser: Prize #7 – A New Leash on Life

If you read our little blog on even a semi-regular basis, by now you should know that we are offering a super awesome fundraiser that benefits the Luzerne County Pit Bull Owners, our pittie rescue, and also gives you a chance to win really cool prizes.

LCPO is currently (like, as I type!) saving 3 lucky pups from the New York Animal Care & Control. Most of us familiar with pittie rescue know more than we would ever care to learn about what goes on inside those walls, but for those of you that don’t, let’s just say that it is about the worst place any pup could end up. Not only do they produce mass euthanasia lists every night, but rumors of neglect and abuse run rampant, not to mention the noisy chaos and cluttered disorganization that can lead to kennel stress and cage aggression.

Walking a dog out of the shelter, through the doors to fresh air and freedom, up into your car to nestle with cozy blankets, and eventually into your house to decompress in comfort and quiet, might just be one of the greatest things you ever do…. Not only for the dog, but also for yourself. LCPO is saving not just one, but THREE lucky dogs. While there are many loving, adoptable dogs behind those doors, the three that are coming to safety are about to have a whole new outlook on life. How cool is that?!

We all sit online each night, seeing the pathetic faces of dogs who face death while living a life behind bars. We wish we could do something about it… LCPO is one of the groups that actually DOES. Every. Single. Day. Let me be their voice, and ask for a little bit of help. Pulling three dogs at once is no easy feat, and they can use every penny we can bring them! Often when you make a donation to a non-profit, you get nothing in return, aside from the satisfaction of knowing you’ve made a difference. This time, I’m offering you a way to simultaneously give back, and also take a little. 😉

Each of the incoming LCPO dogs will be promptly outfitted with some brand-spankin’ new duds from…

2 Hounds Design: Collar & Custom Harness/Leash Combo

The brain, beauty, and brawn behind 2 Hounds Design is Alisha Navarro, a self-proclaimed collar addict artist. 2 Hounds Design began in 2003 as a creative outlet to produce the perfect collar for her two Greyhounds, who are retired racers. She has now developed a team of people who all work long and hard to perfect the art of collar-making, here in the United States. They use only premium hardware and the finest quality fabrics. Alisha employs a hands-on approach, selecting each fabric and ribbon herself; from hand-loomed Laotian and Scalamandre silk, to French Jacquard Ribbon and Asian Silk Brocades, they produce a stunning and extensive selection of dog collars!

DownloadedFile

What began as a way to create a special, custom-design for her own two pups hounds, turned into a dog-lover’s true life passion. Alisha considers herself lucky to be living her dream, and doing what she loves, all while providing customers with a great experience and one more way to (stylishly!) spoil their best friends. While this is how she makes her living, Alisha and 2 Hounds Design have helped to raise more than $350,000 for adoption groups all over the world. She does so much for the canine community, and makes an effort to give back in any way she can. One way that they do this is by providing donation matching. If you purchase one collar as a donation to your non-profit dog rescue group, 2 Hounds Design will match your donation for up to 3 collars!

2 Hound Designs are best known for their stunning martingale collars and matching leashes, but did you know that they also produce custom harnesses? Wiggles, Wags, and Whiskers is their sister company, which creates the harnesses you have seen on Georgia and her other LCPO friends. One of the common purchases is the Freedom Training Package, which consists of the harness and double-connection training leash. I can tell you from first-hand experience that the patented Freedom No-Pull Harness does exactly what it is designed to do, by featuring a loop on the back of the harness, which tightens gently around your dog’s chest. This discourages pulling and makes your daily walks a much more enjoyable experience!

Gia models both her 2HD cupcake collar and custom harness!

To be eligible to win both a gorgeous collar and custom harness from 2 Hounds Design, you simply must make a contribution toward our fundraising efforts for LCPO, here. Minimum amount for eligibility is $10, though each increment of $10 will earn you an additional entry. Every little bit truly does help!

Fundraiser: Prize #6 – Staying Cozy

I don’t know about you guys, but it is still pretty chilly here in Pennsylvania, and I am not anticipating an end to that any time soon. I am lucky that we live on a somewhat large, private piece of property, because it makes it easy (and safe!) to scoot the dogs out the back door in the early mornings or late evenings. I can stay warm and cozy inside, watching them through the glass door, while they venture through the snow and slush to investigate strange smells and do their other ‘important’ business. Gaige and Tonka both have some thickness to their coats, so I haven’t had to worry too much about them throughout the winter. However, poor widdle Gia is a big baby when it comes to cold weather. She will stand at the back door, refusing to go any further, until I wrap her cheap-o Petsmart coat around her back, and push her out the door. I have been searching for a functional yet fashionable solution to this problem, with little success. I wasn’t sure I could justify paying almost as much for a tiny little dog coat, as I have for my own! All of my worries were without cause once I found…

Tiennot Knits: Custom Sweaters

Our friend Emily writes one of our favorite blogs over at Our Waldo Bungie. As much as she loves big, block-headed dogs like our Georgia and her own Turk, Emily is also a talented DIY / crafter / designer lady, and so it would be only natural to imagine her combining the two passions. She teamed up with her mother, who began knitting sweaters for her own grand-pups (Turk, Rufus, and an assortment of fosters) and the trend caught on. Before long, all of her blogging friends needed some of their own, and thus, Tiennot Sweaters was born! Their business has since grown into a variety of hand-knitted accessories for your pup, including knitted hoods and bow ties.

While these sweaters were originally designed with the short-coated pittie in mind, they can be adapted to fit almost any dog! This is because they are created uniquely upon each order, with requests for your dog’s specific measurements. They are also conscious of our ‘elderbulls,’ and offer designs with front and side buttons for easy access. Not only are these products designed with quality in mind, but they offer incredibly competitive pricing.

C Love & a Six-Foot Leash

I’ve been a big fan of Emily’s for a long time. She has always been so kind and encouraging of myself, and many other blogging new-comers. Of course, I shouldn’t have been surprised when she graciously offered to contribute to our fundraiser for LCPO. Nevertheless, I so appreciate her generosity in granting one custom Tiennot Knits fitted sweater to a lucky winner of the giveaway. To provide a little warmth for your pup and add a little warmth to you heart, enter the giveaway by donating at least $10 per entry, here. Remember, all donations will benefit our rescue! Stay-tuned for a few more prizes to be announced over the coming week!

Fundraiser: Prize #5 – All That Glitters

With Valentine’s Day quickly approaching, many of us females may let our minds wander to things that sparkle and shine. (Yes, this is true, even if our Valentine reminds us that we were just appropriately granted a shiny, red washer & dryer… for the record, appliances shouldn’t ever count, as far as I’m concerned!) As you are imagining yourself frosted in diamonds and jewels, who are you picturing as your Valentine? If your dog jumps to mind as the most worthy candidate, you  need to go on a date must have a pup like my Tonka! Regardless, I’m sure you can agree that your loving, loyal pet deserves at least a little bit of recognition this Valentine’s day. Why shouldn’t he or she be adorned in some bling of their own?!

Fundraiser: Prize #4 – Getting Playful!

I know that your dogs would all be thrilled if their owners won them any of the three prizes already posted this week (here, here, and yesterday). However, I wanted to make sure that I offered some items that would really excite the canine crowd!

Squishy Face Studio:

While searching for toys specifically directed at bully breeds, I came across Squishy Face Studio. I don’t know about you, but that name instantly conjured up images of all of my favorite lova-bull, snuggle-a-bull, cuddle-a-bull pitties! And I was ‘leashed’. (Get it?) After speaking with Jessica (the girlier half of owners Justin & Jessica Lohman) I was in love… not only with their products, but with her! I will let you read her personal description below, as I don’t think I can say it any better…

about

“Squishy Face Studio is a Florida-based, family-owned business started by Justin and Jessica Lohmann in 2009. Our mission is to create the most innovative and durable toys available for strong and active dogs. Our toys are designed to provide both physical and mental exercise, with the goal of keeping your dogs happy and healthy. Our products are proudly made in the U.S.A.

We are passionate dog advocates, specifically defending “bully” breeds and opposing Breed Specific Legislation. We feel that education is the key to changing the circumstances of these misunderstood animals. We also advocate adoption from animal rescues, shelters and the Humane Society. We donate frequently to organizations that promote these ideals and work to reach the awesome goal of No More Homeless Pets both in our local community and throughout the nation.

{You thought that was good? Here is where is gets really great.}

We are constantly inspired by our own small pack; Petey, Max, Lily and Mr. Kitty (who thinks he is a dog). All three of our actual dogs have been labeled “pit bulls” or pit bull mixes at one point or another. The truth, as it is with many if not most rescued and adopted dogs, is that they are MIOs (Mutts of Indistinguishable Origin). What DNA tests and conformation standards can’t tell you is that they are a perpetual source of happiness, a constant reminder of what is right with the world. They love us and we love them, and nothing in life gets any better than that.”

Sigh. Have you fallen tail over ears yet? If not, just wait until you see their products.

What I love about their toys, is that they offer a variety of ways to exercise your pet; both mentally and physically! Use their Flirt Pole as a fun, interactive way to play with your dog, building your bond and increasing their confidence. On lazy days when your pup isn’t quite ready to be a couch potato, send them out into your backyard to play with the Super Tug, solo. Either way, you can be sure that your dog is getting a great workout, while having fun, and supporting a company that support pitties!

Fundraiser: Prize #3 – Siriusly Cool!

Try to think back to one of your more intimidating transitions to the first day of classes. Perhaps it was your entrance into middle or high school. At least for any of us girly-girls, the first day of school was all about The Outfit. It had to be just right; not too dressy, so that you looked like you were trying too hard, but just put together enough to turn a few heads. You know what I’m talking about… Anyway, in each generation, there was that one Had-to-Have item to complete every wardrobe. You saw all the upperclassmen with it, and knew that if you could just get your hands on one of your own, your life would be complete, and your social status would be secured. Maybe it was a certain accessory: a cool pair of Doc Martens a few decades ago, which might be comparable to a comfy set of Uggs these days. Regardless, these items served as the ultimate status symbol in the ever-evolving hierarchy of your pre-pubescent peers. (Okay, so maybe all of you weren’t also fashion-focused drama-queens… )

Sirius Republic: Custom Collars

You may be asking yourself, how on Earth does this relate to dogs? Well, I’m getting there. About a year ago, I began following some popular blogs relating to pit bull rescue and fostering, and I was instantly hooked. I noticed that all of these famous dogs, who were practically celebrities in my eyes, sported such attractive collars. I found myself wondering if their owners all had superb taste, or just happened to shop at the same places! In fact, it turns out that both assumptions are true… the discerning owners of some of our favorite pup-stars, all choose to shop at Sirius Republic. Don’t believe me? I have photographic evidence!

And of course, The Chickster and Doodlebug – from Love & a 6-Foot Leash. (‘Bug, shown above, just so happens to be Gaige’s celebrity crush… don’t tell him though, I think she would be embarrassed.)

In case those precious mugs weren’t enough to make you fall madly in love with Sirius Republic, let me tell you more. First of all, they offer an INSANE amount of fabrics from which you can choose, in order to find a pattern most appropriate for your pup’s particular style and personality. They also have various styles of collar, with the martingale being the most popular. This allows the collar to be removed easily, without letting the dog pull out of it when leashed. It is all the rage for foster families to scoop up a Sirius collar for their new foster dogs, to symbolize their journey to a new life! Oftentimes, they keep these collars, and then send their dog off with a brand new style, once they’ve been adopted. We just love that idea!

While they are well-known for their collars, Sirius Republic also branches out into other areas of fashion. One of my favorite new products is the Sirius ‘Snood,’ which offers the ultimate in warmth and style. It is essentially a neck warmer for your dog! Two of their patterns are modeled on the dashing Miss M and the dapper Mr B from Two Pitties in the City.

untitled-1-145

Based in the San Francisco Bay Area of California, Sirius Republic makes high-quality products, and truly cares about the satisfaction of each and every customer. Even more impressive, they are proud supporters of animal rescue organizations, including ours, LCPO! A portion of every sale is donated to their partnering animal rescues. To make a purchase from Sirius, simply enter in the LCPO code (RPLC97) and you will be (stylishly!) helping pit bulls in need!

Compliments of Sirius, one of our lucky winners will have the opportunity to select a dog collar in the pattern of their choice!  All you need to do to is enter our contest, which benefits LCPO. Each $10 donation you pledge will qualify you for one entry towards any of our 10 prizes! These giveaways will be announced each day, but remember that we have already unveiled some here and here. We are working to raise $500, and have only had a few donations made… that means that your chances of winning something are about 100%, as of today! So get to it, people. 😉

Fundraiser: Prize #2 – Pet Portraits!

As a semi-newlywed, I am still working on making our home a cozy and warm environment. We are lucky to have a home that is safe & sound, but I did move into what was previously my husband’s bachelor pad, so this has been no easy task! I don’t know about you guys, but some days it seems like the most visible ‘decorations’ in our home, consist of doggie-related items. I wish I were talking about things like custom portraits and signs, but I’m referring more to shredded dog toys, misplaced leashes, and food bowls… which is why I was so excited to make friends with Kim, who blogs at Yellow Brick Home. You guys are going to be over the moon when you see her creations…

How cute are they?!

What started out as a portrait made as a gift for her hubby, quickly escalated into a full-fledged, thriving business! Through word-of-mouth, Kim was faced with as much work as she could handle. Inspired by their fur children, Maddie, Libby, Jack, who are all rescues themselves, 10% of the sales go to rescues. As if you needed another reason to love her!

Custom portraits make a great gift solution for those animal-lovers who are especially hard to buy for. Not only that, but they work really well for foster families that want a special way to remember their beloved foster pets, once they have moved onto their new homes. The portraits are done on 5×5 blocks, which can produce a great small gallery look for a wall in your home. Head over to their website to check out the special Valentine’s Day discount they are offering for gift certificates purchased between now and Friday! For most of us, our pets are our favorite topic of conversation… why shouldn’t the art work in our homes feature our four-legged family members? I have big plans for some prints I want to commission of our own pets! Stay-tuned…

In the mean-time, The Pet Shop has graciously offered to contribute 3 of their Art Prints to our giveaway, to be selected by the winner. Head over to check them out… you will be blown away by the attention to detail and whimsical colors. The animals range from cats and dogs of varying breeds, to wild animals like giraffes and gorillas! I personally think they could make an especially adorable addition to a nursery.

If you find yourself falling in love with some of these precious (low-maintenance!) pets, and think they would make a great addition to your home, simply head here to make a contribution to our fundraiser for our rescue, LCPO. You will be entered to win your choice of 3 prints from The Pet Shop! Remember, our goal is to raise $500, which will all go to helping LCPO save needy pit bulls like our Georgia girl. For each $10 donation you make, you will be entered once to win an array of prizes.

Remember, every day, we will be featuring another generous sponsor. Check back often to see what exciting new prizes we will be adding!
